orange mango gelatin gummies

I’ve been wanting to make these orange mango gelatin gummies for the last week. Then, when I finally got all my ingredients ready I realized I was out of my fave gelatin. Doh! Thankfully, Amazon prime came to the rescue. Phew.

So why was I itchin’ to make these? Because gelatin is crazy good for your health!

In fact, let’s chat about all the benefits of gelatin.

Gelatin is a protein that contains two amino acids – glycine and proline. And these amino acids are used in the production of collagen for your body. Now, I’m sure you know all about collagen, right? It’s what makes your skin radiant and youthful looking.

If you’ve ever bought expensive face creams, you’ve likely heard the marketing spiel on collagen for reducing wrinkles and anti-aging effects. Little did you know you could have saved your dollars and just made these little gummies instead!

Gelatin also has gut healing properties (which translates to always important immune support) and can strengthen hair, teeth and nails. This is due to it’s supply of calcium, magnesium and phosphorus.

Gelatin can also help you sleep better, protect your joints, detox your liver and support your adrenals. Phew. That’s a lot!

But here’s the unfortunate part – most of us are not getting as much of this vital protein as we should.

Enter gelatin gummies! Little wellness-packed jigglers!

I used oranges and mangoes for this recipe, but you could easily use any berries or fruit you have on hand. You could also probably use all orange juice for the liquid if you wanted a stronger orange flavor, but I find that the gelatin melts better in the hot water.

These really are super simple to make and worth all the various health benefits the little jigglers impart.

Enjoy!

PS – If you’re interested in learning more about the vast health benefits of gelatin, I highly recommend my friend Sylvie McCracken’s book, The Gelatin Secret. It’s the most comprehensive resource I’ve found on gelatin (with over 150 pages of health info and recipes!).

  3. Hi Lisa
    Thanks for sharing the receipe
Looks like this will be a good snack for kids too. What would be a good brand of orange juice to use.

  4. Hi Lisa, I like this recipe, but have a few questions. Why do you use Beef Gelatin? I would have guessed plain….
Also, do you think I could use the Dr.Axe bone broth gelatin for this? I guess I’ll give it a try!

    1. Hi Camilla – most gelatin is sourced from beef (or lesser, pork). I just looked up Dr. Axe’s product and it looks like he only has a bone broth collagen, not gelatin (unless it’s there and I missed it). Collagen is different from gelatin and will not firm up and turn into these little gummies. Also, I use a different brand of gelatin now: http://amzn.to/2gKKI0L And I’ve written more about the collagen here: https://downshiftology.com/what-is-collagen/ Hope that helps!

      1. Thank you so much Lisa. I had a confusion on the 2! I will order the gelatin that you use from Amazon. I can’t wait to make these.
