These Greek chicken kabobs are one of my all-time favorite grilling recipes. Chunks of chicken breast are drenched in lemon, garlic, oregano, and olive oil before being skewered with colorful vegetables. Everything comes off the grill tender, juicy, and insanely delicious.

Chicken kabobs on a plate

Chicken kabobs are a staple summer grilling recipe. And while there are many ways you can make kabobs, from beef shish kabobs to chicken souvlaki, today’s recipe is a fusion with Mediterranean cuisine. If you’ve made my recipes before, you know that easy meals loaded with flavor are my specialty — so believe me when I say that no one can resist these juicy and flavorful chicken kabobs.

Using my Greek salad dressing as the base for the marinade, the recipe comes together quickly. All you have to do is thread everything onto a skewer, grill it, and voila – you’re done. Serve these with my tzatziki sauce for an extra punch of flavor!

Ingredients for chicken kabobs

Ingredients for Greek Chicken Kabobs

This chicken kabob recipe is ALL about the marinade. Not only does it flavor the chicken, but can be brushed onto the vegetables while grilling. For the best results, you’ll need…

  • Chicken breasts: Chicken breasts are the ideal choice for grilling as they hold up well over the grill.
  • Fresh vegetables: I love to use a mix of red onion, bell peppers, zucchini, and squash for their bright colors and fast cooking time on the grill. But you can always swap them out for other vegetables you love to grill.
  • Chicken kabob marinade: This marinade is a bright and zesty blend of olive oil, fresh lemon juice, red wine vinegar, Dijon mustard, fresh garlic, and dried oregano.

How To Grill Chicken Kabobs

Marinate the chicken. Cut the chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large mixing bowl. Whisk together the marinade ingredients in a separate bowl and mix with the cubed chicken. Then cover the bowl and place it in the fridge to marinate for about one hour.

Prep vegetables and assemble kabobs. Cut all of the vegetables into the same-size chunks as the chicken. Then, thread the marinated chicken on skewers, alternating with vegetables. Have fun with different combinations!

Grill the kabobs. Light a gas or charcoal grill on medium-high heat. Place the kabobs on the grill and cook for about 4 to 5 minutes per side. Turn the skewers and baste with the remaining marinade until the chicken is cooked through and the vegetables are lightly charred.

Common Questions

How to cut chicken breast for kabobs?

Slice the chicken into 1 ½-inch cubes, as well as the vegetables. It’s best if you can cut them into uniform pieces. Also, since the chicken and vegetables will shrink as they cook, pack the skewers with ingredients so they stay looking full and beautiful.

What skewers are best for grilling kabobs?

I’m a big advocate for metal skewers (instead of wooden) because they’re reusable, sturdy, and prevent the meat and veggies from rotating around the skewer when you flip them. These flat metal skewers are the specific ones I use!

Can you bake chicken kabobs in the oven?

Absolutely! If you don’t have a grill, oven-baked kabobs are just as good. You’ll place them on a baking sheet and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 25 to 30 minutes, flipping them halfway through.

What To Serve with Chicken Kabobs

Complete your Mediterranean feast with a table of fresh sides, dips, and salads! Here are a few favorites that will complement the kabobs perfectly.

STORAGE TIPS

  • To Store: This two-in-one combo is great for meal prepping. Plus, the leftovers taste just as good! Unthread the skewers and place the chicken and vegetables in an airtight container in the fridge for 3 to 4 days.
  • To Freeze: Place the chicken and vegetables in a freezer-safe bag or container and store them for up to 3 months.
  • For Reheating: Simply heat in the microwave until the chicken and vegetables are warmed through.

  1. The Greek Chicken Kabobs were so easy to make and everyone enjoyed them. We thought that we made too many for the amount of people we had but none was left. They also loved the tzatziki dip.5 stars

  2. We love these kebabs. The Greek flavors are spot on.. especially with the tzatziki sauce. I always hope there’s leftovers. Give this one a try you’ll be hooked!5 stars

  3. I made this for the first time tonight and it was delicious. I was a tiny bit skeptical because the marinade has Dijon mustard and I do not care for mustard. It’s a tiny amount though and while I’m sure it affects the overall flavor it didn’t taste strongly of mustard once all cooked up. This was a perfect, refreshing summer dinner. Highly recommend!5 stars

  9. This is the best Greek chicken kebabs recipe I have found! So good! My entire family loved it. And they can be picky. Also your best tzatziki recipe lives up to its name — it’s easy and authentic and delicious! Thank you! I will have to use this recipe next time we go camping, since we could marinade it ahead of time! Kabobs are great while camping. 5 stars

  10. I love this recipe! It’s easy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. You will think you ordered take-out from your favorite Greek restaurant. I serve mine with hummus and coconut milk rice.5 stars

  11. Hi Lisa, I just love these. Of course, I had to buy the skewers you used and they worked great. Simple and delicious. I made these while on my beach vacation this year. I brought a few of your recipes with me to share with the family. Thank you.5 stars

  12. These were amazing! So tender, and great flavor. Made them last week, and just bought more chicken to make again this week. I used boneless skinless thighs.5 stars

  13. Thank you so much for this recipe (actually ALL of the recipes You post)! These Greek Chicken Kabobs were amazing! We paired them with your Tzatziki sauce. Sooo good! They were incredibly flavourful!  When it’s my turn to cook I’m never too thrilled with what I create (Perfectionist & food always tastes better when someone else cooks it, right ;) With this meal, I was blown away!  LOVED these kabobs! 10 out of 10! 5 stars

  14. I actually cannot say enough how amazing these chicken kabobs were. They are absolutely bursting with flavor and pretty easy to make! I made the marinade only a couple of hours before making the chicken and it was still so juicy and full of flavor. That night we paired it with rice and chickpea salad (from this site). We ate the leftover chicken in green salads the next day and it was divine. I would advise people to not skip out on the vegetables because they are so flavorful and make it a great summer meal. Thanks for an awesome recipe!5 stars

  15. Hi! I’m planning to make these for an upcoming family gathering. Is the serving size one skewer per person/nutritional value included with recipe? Some of us follow Weight Watchers so we’re also trying to determine the points value. These look amazing and I can’t wait to make them!! Thank you!

    1. Hi there! Yes, the nutritional information is per skewer. Can’t wait for you to make these :)

  16. Light yet lots of flavor. Was a great to make on the grill this beautiful Spring night! Will be using left overs to add into salads this week.  😋 5 stars

  18. Ten stars!!!!!! We used to buy chicken kabobs from our local supermarket’s meat counter for a quick, easy dinner but when I came across your recipie, I decided to give it a try and I am SO glad I did! Have made these twice and they are so flavorful. We broil them for 6 minutes per side and they come out perfect. Thank you for this amazing recipe.5 stars

  19. Excellent recipe (as usual)! Made it a couple of times with great results. Pro tip: marinate the veggies too!5 stars

  20. This was PHENOMENOL. Best kabob flavor-tasted like I ordered these kabobs from a restaurant. I marinated the meat for a day and grilled them. And the vegan tzaztiki! To die for, as I’m dairy free. My husband also loved it, and he usually doesn’t like dairy free substitutes. THANK YOU!5 stars

  21. This recipe came out beyond amazing! I’m extremely happy and impressed with the outcome. I also made the tzaziki sauce with low-fat Greek yogurt and that came out beautifully as well. I definitely should have halved the tzaziki sauce recipe because I feel like the amount was far too much for the 1.5 lbs of chicken I used. This is the first time I’ve ever put chicken breast on the grill and had it come out SO flavorful, tender/moist etc. I’m grateful I tried this because now I’m excited to continue grilling my chicken. I will say though I wish I marinated it longer than 1.5 hours but I was on a time crunch. 5 stars

    1. Wonderful! So glad to hear these kabobs turned out perfectly Stacy :) The tzatziki sauce really does wonders when dipped with the chicken!

  22. Lisa! Another home run! I think this should be a “Best” Chicken Kabobs Recipe.
The chicken turned out super juicy and had incredible flavor! I did not have red wine vinegar, so I substituted apple cider vinegar and it was amazing. Same with the Tzatziki, so delicious! Thank you!5 stars

    1. Thanks so much Andrew! I’m happy you loved this recipe so much that it ranks as a “best” for you. And glad you whipped up the tzatziki as well – it’s a great combo for sure!

  23. The chicken is infused with rich seasoning, good tasty and smell. And vegetables are light sweet. We usually add cube eggplants. I really like this Greek chicken kabobs. Sometime, I take out from the skewer and put onto the salad.5 stars

  24. It’s very delicious and colourful. We put skewers on the charcoal, when vegetables are lightly charred. It’s very engaging, Combination between chicken and bell peppers, zucchini makes this dish balance. Just I can’t slice chicken breast thin, so it take us more time be done.5 stars

  25. So delicious! We can’t lack grilled chicken in outside parties. Dipping chicken into marinade help chicken infused with spices. I love skewed chicken with bell peppers and zucchini. We have open place to grill on the charcoal.5 stars

  26. These greek chicken kabobs look delicious! I can already taste the wonderful flavors! I love that you include so many veggies, it gives the kabobs a beautiful color! I’m excited to make these this week, thanks for sharing! 5 stars
