Cherry smoothie bowl is made from seasonal dark cherries and it’s topped with whole cherries, coconut flakes, almond slices and raw cacao nibs for an indulgent, sweet and crunchy breakfast.
Cherry Smoothie Bowl
Oh, yes – a cherry smoothie bowl! As you know from my other recent smoothie bowls (linked below) they’re one of my new favorite things. Not only are they scrumptious, they’ve really become a creative outlet. I mean, look at how much fun you can have designing the top. It’s a smoothie bowl piece of art!
I also love how cherry picking season signals the beginning of summer. And ya’ll know I LOVE summer!
In years past I would drive up to my parent’s place (as they’re surrounded by cherry orchards) and pick bucket loads of cherries. Then I’d eat a bunch (until I achieved cherry overload) and freeze the rest for future recipes. But this year was unfortunately a cherry picking bummer. The drought in California did massive damage to the cherry farms. Instead of being open for several weeks, the cherry farms were only open for a couple of days this year before all cherries were gone. Poor little trees.
But thankfully I was able to pick some fresh, organic cherries before the trees were wiped clean. So first item on the menu? A dark cherry smoothie bowl of course!
Cherry Health Benefits
Cherries are loaded with antioxidants and polyphenols that help fight disease, as well as vitamin C and fiber. They’re also a natural food source of melatonin, which can help to improve your sleep. Good stuff.
But I will say this, they’re also fairly high in sugar. So as is the case with all my smoothie bowl recipes, I wouldn’t recommend eating them every day. But for an occasional smoothie bowl splurge, this recipe is simply divine!

Happy to hear you enjoyed this smoothie bowl, Vicky!
Can you recommend a healthy replacement for the banana?
Hi Ashley – you could use frozen zucchini. I have a separate recipe on using frozen zucchini in smoothies. :)
Cherries add so much flavor to smoothies. Excited to try this out!
They really do! I love making this recipe during Cherry season. Enjoy!
I just picked up some cherries from the store! This will be perfect; looks amazing!

This cherry smoothie bowl is almost too pretty to eat… almost! :)
Almost. ;) Haha!
I normally am so horrible about eating breakfast, but since finding this on Pinterest I am actually enjoying breakfast more. I love this recipe.
I’m happy you love the recipe Heidy! Smoothie bowls are a great way to switch up your normal breakfast routine for sure. :)
Well isn’t that the prettiest smoothie bowl I’ve seen in a long time! Cherry is my favorite summer fruit, so I definitely will be making this soon!
Thanks so much Lisa! Cherries really do make for a beautiful smoothie bowl – and tasty too!
This looks so good, I can’t wait to try it. Confused about how much it should serve. It says serves one but in the instructions, it says to divide into two servings? Should it be two? Thanks for all the work you do!
Hi Donna – good catch! I’ve fixed the recipe so it’s clearly one serving. :)
Absolutely LOVE the combination of cherries and dark chocolate (and the rest of the ingredients in that smoothie bowl :) ).
Me too! It’s just the best isn’t it?! :) x
